Brook Benton

(1931-1988) Born in Lugoff, SC, Benjamin Franklin Peay, better known as Brook Benton, was a popular soul singer of the 1960s, with his signature song, "Rainy Night in Georgia." He also popularized a traditional blues song titled “The Boll Weevil Song” about the devastation caused by the beetle.
