She attended Juilliard School in New York and has been diligent about helping change the perception of black lives through her performances on screen. Parris’ passion is evident relating to social and racial injustice. In an interview with The Huffington Post, after the murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile at the hands of police officers, Parris implored white Americans to stand with black Americans in the fight against injustice.
